The James Bond franchise is is one of the longest continually-running film series in history; it’s been in ongoing production from 1962 to the present day. Based on the character created by Ian Fleming in the 1950s, Bond has a taste for expensive cars, beautiful women, and gambling, and the men who play the legendary character are known for oozing charisma, charm, and sex appeal.

Here are a few of the actors who have held the role over the years!

1. Sean Connery

Sean Connery is often considered the best James Bond of them all, but he wasn’t actually the first choice for the part. In fact, he was almost passed over before the wife of producer Cubby Broccoli convinced her husband that he was the right man for the job. Connery appeared in 7 films between 1962 and 1983: Dr. No, From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, Diamonds Are Forever, and Never Say Never Again. Today, he’s retired, and he has no plans to return to the big screen; he’s declared that “retirement is just too much damned fun!”
